Eliana "Eli" Moreno, affectionately known to the audience as "Eli in the Heli," lost her life on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 15, when the NewsChopper4 helicopter crashed while covering a news story in Chatsworth, Los Angeles. The tragic accident also claimed the life of veteran pilot George Marciniw and a person who was on the ground. Eli was born and raised here, in the Orange County, and was proud of her roots. She graduated from Chapman University. For over a decade, she was a bilingual voice for both KNBC and KVEA, delivering breaking news from the skies of Southern California with unmatched professionalism, passion, and elegance. Beyond her incredible work in the air, Eliana was a dedicated mother and a mentor who frequently visited local schools to inspire the next generation of journalists.
