@nannyamies: #AD Spend the morning with Elisabeth and I as we delve into the world of home education with the help of the @BBC Bitesize website! I’m so keen to ensure I provide the best education for Elisabeth as possible and if I’m completely honest, that’s quite daunting, so I know I’ll be leaning on the incredible amount of information provided by BBC Bitesize a lot! Join us to see what we get up to! P.S If you haven’t already, I highly recommend that you check out the website and sign up to the newsletter too….the more support that we have, the more support our children have too! Link in bio! #bbcbitesize #homeeducation #motheranddaughter #childdevelopment
You are going to enjoy it as you can use resources and tailor make her day ...which hopefully will make life easier for you both.....I am lead to believe you can join other parents to utilise a community if and when you want too....good luck

I cannot wait to see your home education journey! 🤩 My son is a month younger than Elizabeth and although he will be in a school setting, I just know I’ll be taking inspiration for home educational activities too!

I’m not planning on home educating (yet!) but am not sending my daughter to nursery until she’s at least 3 and even then will only be part time and I think this is such a great idea for enriching her home life 💕 and giving ideas- as a teacher myself I use bbc bitesize all the time! but didn’t know they had this section 🥰 excited to follow along and see what you get up to!

There are lots of EYFS websites such as Miss E and Early years outdoor that have such have lovely resources that you can set up for her inside and outside, like setting her up tuff trays that would be a good thing for her to explore… they have bird watching, seasons and inside activities too 😁 xx

Please don’t let it be daunting, I did it for 18 months for my autistic daughter and honestly she flourished and it’s really not as hard as people think if I can help signpost round out areas I will be happy to.

Having previously worked in SEN schools i think you have made the perfect decision!! Use the things that you found on your nature walk into other activities. Arts and crafts stick and printing and using some of the things you have found as paint brushes. Pull inall the things that she loves and build those into what you are wanting her to learn. Elizabeth seems to like birds use them for counting. Children learn when they are having fun and engaged with what they sre being shown. She will continue to grow and learn with you by her side and with all your experience ✨️perfect 👌 🥰

We home educated out daughter through her secondary school age and used BBC and other sites for help. I wish I had home schooled her from school age as it was just not the right environment for her. She is now in her second year at University and doing so well xxx

I would highly recommend BBC bite-size for Home educating accessing resources as well. It’s got things on there for reception age for primary secondary College and plus some things that even you could have a go out go out and explore as well and test your knowledge. It’s really accessible with a screen reader and also it’s probably one of the websites that I used to create my resources for because half of the websites out there for resource making is not accessible for someone like me. And being responsible for education regardless if you are homeschooling, if your child goes to mainstream school or your SEN child goes to a specialist one is really scary. But as a blind person and a teacher, I’m gonna say you’re not alone in this. We do this thing with our learners and the acronym that I used is UTWAM (understanding the world around me) Through different things to do with nature, religion, geography history food anything really and I think that will also help Elizabeth and other people out there too.💚 PS, you can pinch my UTWAM acronym 😂😂😂
