My mom died in 2020. My dad recently made a comment that he’d like to find someone to date so all the house stuff would be taken care of. I said that’s not a reason for a relationship. He was quiet after that. But after I moved out, he had to hire people to clean and he had to cook his own meals. It was a rude awakening

This is so interesting! I’ve never thought of this before. I’ve met men who would get upset even for bringing up sleeping in different rooms because I hated the feeling of sleeping in the same bed as them.

This happened with my philosophy professor! She got married in her early 40s and her husband is also another professor on the east coast. Both thought it was better for the careers to stay put. they do visit each other often, and have mutual friends (she is friends with some of his colleagues and vice versa). They did this for years. When I took her class, she was close to 60
