I'm 43, I had every intention to be a mother but not to a man who lacked respect for women, not for a man who prefers haing fun over being financially stable, not for a man who can't go to bed without drinking, and not for a man who makes me feel unsafe in my own home. Trust me, I'd rather be childless and have missed an opportunity but I will never have a child for selfish reasons.

You can't miss what you've never known. I work in a nursing home. There are many residents whose children haven't visited them in years. You shouldn't have children just so you'll be less lonely later on. Believe me, I know many older women who don't have children but are incredibly happy. It’s everyone’s own choice whether or not to have children. But growing old is something you do alone; children leave home and eventually start their own lives.

Financial independence is key, you can’t rely on men, if they leave you you are screwed financially if you don’t have your own income especially if you have children. I know many women where men have just left and ran away from not just the woman but his children too. This has ultimately made the women struggle financially to raise children alone. That is not a life….that is survival mode. Many of us just don’t want to risk that
