@alyssa_nicolee: I used to think this was what having fun looked like. I watched this video back today and honestly… I felt embarrassed. I felt sad for her. Because I know that girl. I know how badly she wanted to feel confident, carefree and fun. And I know how often alcohol was the thing she thought she needed to become that version of herself. But the longer I looked at her, the less I wanted to judge her. I just wanted to hug her. Because she had no idea there was another version of her waiting on the other side of one really hard decision. A girl who could walk into a room completely sober and still be confident. Dance sober. Travel sober. Celebrate sober. Be loud, weird, funny and completely herself sober. She didn’t need liquid courage. She needed to learn that she was enough without it. And fuck, I’m proud of her for eventually figuring that out. I can’t change that video. I can’t change the choices I made or the versions of myself I’m not proud of. But I could decide that wasn’t the girl I wanted to be anymore. So I did something about it. Day 367. Still running. Still sober.
