My mom was a southern belle and she used to sit and smoke cigs when there weren’t tourists around

My toxic trait is that I romanticized the shit out of old Florida when I was younger

Do one on the myth of the southern belle. Like the white Hollywood cowboy they are more of a myth created after the fact.

Lego Land now sits on that property. It has been a few years since my visit, but we were able to tour the gardens.

It was THE place to go. We drove from Boston to Florida when I was 8. I got this HOLLOW WAX DOLL from a machine. Must have put a coin in and it made these dolls in front of you. Literally state of the art technology back then. No idea how it’s still intact but it’s a prized possession of mine. Mostly now due to how old it is (50 years 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣).

I’m 47, my Nana took me here in the 80’s. And I remember how beautiful the girls were in their gowns. I still have the pictures but I don’t have the Umbrella she bought me for a souvenir. But oh the memories 🥰🥰🥰

It was beautiful. I worked there in the 1990s. Then it went to hell as it was sold off numerous times 😭

My grandma use to take me here all the time. I remember they had a license agreement with “The Magic School Bus” to attract more kids with Miss Frizzle stuff around. I loved the belles that sat in the gardens. Now I visit it with my son but it’s Lego land and not as magical.

my dad's work would send him to various resorts and theme parks (one of those jobs you wish was at the job fair as a kid) and he had some weird feelings about this park specifically. like he liked the gardens and the water shows, all the beautiful water features, but then you run smack into an antebellum performer and it would take you right out.
