Willard’s Mom :
My grandmother LOVED those trees. They were growing on Emory University, and she transplanted some and grew them in Georgia.

I live in the Midwest. In particular, St. Louis, Missouri. They’re all over the place here. There’s one about four or five stories tall around the block for me and if the conditions are right and fall, it looks like golden coins on the ground when it drops its leaves. They’re always late in the season to drop their leaves.

given that you said "she", is that actually a female specimen? that would make it even cooler!! ginkgos are dioecious, which means each individual tree is either male or female. male ginkgos produce pollen, and females produce seeds (as seen in my photo below). the seeds may look like fruit, but they aren't fruit since ginkgo is a gymnosperm. the fleshy seed coat has a pungent aroma that some people find unpleasant, however after removing the seed coat, the inner "nut" is edible once cooked

if you have a girl ginko never step on the berries or you'll think you stepped in dog poop. my aunt loved her ginko but she hosted thanksgiving every year right after the berries fell and we all knew to watch our step and check our shoes before coming inside or getting back in the car.

One Day at a Time :
I have Ginko. The coolest thing is they lose their leaves in a single day. When they start dropping leaves, every leaf will fall in a single afternoon.
