Firearms Owners Identification Card. I am not sure what States use a FOID card, but in Illinois you need to show your State issued FOID card if you want to look at a firearm at a gun store or sporting goods store. If you don’t have one, the person behind the counter cannot hand you a firearm or touch one. So, I assume that someone was calling you a firearms owner (ie. a redneck).
