@sdimmigrationlawyer: Somebody told you leadership counts more than publications for EB-1A. That’s not a rule. It isn’t in the regulation. There are ten criteria. The regulation ranks none of them. What does exist is a two-step review: 1. Do you hit at least three criteria? That’s counting. 2. Does the whole file show sustained acclaim — that you’re actually at the top of the field? That’s judgment. Publications are what researchers do. That’s the job. Doing the job well is not the same as being at the top of the field. Acclaim looks like other people treating you as exceptional — asking you to judge their work, building on what you made, depending on you specifically. Leadership does not outrank publications. But if your entire case is “I published a lot,” you have a step-two problem. And step two is where most of these are lost.
