Seized Injector Removal on Mercedes CDI | Common Diesel Engine Problem. • Today we’re tackling one of the dirtiest and most challenging repairs you can encounter on a Mercedes-Benz CDI diesel engine. • The vehicle came in with one of the most common Mercedes diesel problems - a burned injector sealing washer. Although the sealing washer itself is inexpensive, ignoring this issue can eventually turn a simple repair into several hours of difficult and delicate work. • Mercedes engines use a heat shield above the injectors. When the sealing washer fails, hot combustion gases escape around the injector but become trapped beneath this shield. Over time, oil residue, soot, and combustion deposits combine to form an extremely hard carbon buildup that completely surrounds the injector. • Eventually the injector becomes firmly seized inside the cylinder head, making removal extremely difficult. The longer the problem is ignored, the greater the risk of damaging the injector, valve cover, cylinder head, or surrounding engine components during removal. • In this video, I demonstrate the complete cleaning process, carbon removal, and safe injector extraction. Every step requires patience, precision, and the right technique to avoid expensive damage. • Years of exposure to extreme temperatures also make nearby plastic connectors, wiring clips, and engine components extremely brittle.
