This might upset somebody, but after eating pasta all over Italy, I still think my Creole grandmother from New Orleans made red sauce better than the Italians. 😂🍝 That was the running joke in our family. Whenever somebody talked about the best pasta in Italy, we’d say, “That’s cute, but have you had Grandma’s bolognese?” And listen, I had high expectations in Italy. The pasta was incredible, the ingredients were simple and perfect, and every region had its own way of making you question everything you thought you knew about sauce. But my grandmother’s red sauce had history in it. Creole seasoning, patience, family arguments in the kitchen, and the kind of confidence that made everybody go back for seconds before admitting they were full. The funniest part? The Italians actually co-signed her sauce. Not just politely, either. More than one Italian told us it was one of the best red sauces they’d ever tasted. So maybe Grandma wasn’t technically Italian. But according to the family, and apparently a few Italians with excellent taste, she was absolutely allowed to talk her talk. 😂🌿 Now I want to hear about the dishes your family makes that nobody else can quite recreate. Is it your grandmother’s sauce, your aunt’s mac and cheese, your dad’s barbecue, or something only your family knows how to season just right? Tell me what it is, who makes it, and what makes it unforgettable. 🌊✨ #JiannaInTheJungle #ItalianFood #PastaInItaly #CreoleCooking #NewOrleansFood
