As a tenured military spouse, I'm so happy to hear this. Life is challenging with the military in the mix. There's so much learning to do, learn about yourself, your husband, and the military. Get yourself set up for success.

So to give a counter (without trying to be combative in any way), my husband and I waited until I was 26. We tried for 2 years before going to a fertility doctor. I'm now 36 without any success. I appreciate taking the time but as shitty as it sounds, I wish I would have lied to my obgyn about infertility to have the test done sooner. Had I know pregnancy would been hard, I would have planned differently. I feel like my control over the situation was taken away from me by my insurance because now I am "too old" to have children. I apologize for ranting and hope to not get any harsh comments...it's just I wish I would have asked questions earlier.

My lord a baby at 21, I couldn’t even imagine. Granted I am 42 and childfree by choice but I remember what I was like at 21 and wow that would have been something.

I always wanted kids, i am so glad we waited til we were early 30, it meant to we got time to do things that we wouldn’t of done if we had kids earlier. Enjoy your 20s

Omg that makes me so happy. I think marriage and children can be a wonderful thing, but there’s no reason to not wait until you’re a prefrontal cortex is fully developed. You have your whole life to be married and have kids. It’s why I share my story about getting married to someone who turned out to be an abusive drunken monster, because hopefully it helps even one person you know, see the signs and to move slow slowly and not end up, making the biggest mistake of their life.

I’m glad i didn’t have my first until i was 27. Horrifyingly fertile, that’s why we have 4. I wish more people would have less kids though. So many aren’t equipped to be a parent.

as someone with kids that's in the military, I strongly suggest waiting as well. having to figure out the logistics with the military and a family is hard and it's really really tough on the non- military spouse. there will be times. his schedule is absolutely insane and she would be on her own by herself with no family support.
