OP is probably doing this for a map app. As a disabled person, I often use the disabled parts of map apps.

disabled adults here. I don't know what country this might be in, but I do know that there are some apps that help you report places that are not ADA compliant. I think they're saying scanning as they're filming with an app and if they film the grass the car won't fall into the view of the camera. so it just looks like it's missing sidewalk instead of a car not parked parked where it's not supposed to be. honestly, I think it's ridiculous that people think they can park like this. I do doordash and I watch dashers all the time. it's one thing if you're dropping off in order, but if you're waiting to pick it up and you're parked in the f****** fire lane, don't do that because you don't know how long it's going to take for that business to make that order. and how long you're going to be in that goddamn fire lane just go find a parking spot

kinda off topic but I agree to the too woke comment. as someone who is handicapped, it literally pisses me off when someone "corrects" me. I've been told by abled people I can't day I'm wheelchair-bound cos it's offensive to wheelchair users. bruh IM a wheelchair user. or I'll be standing there lookin like Jimmy from South Park and told I can't say I'm crippled cos it's a slur -_-

So a quick google search indicated there are apps and some people who do jobs for this. If this person is just using an app to be helpful in the area or actual does this work. I'm also not sure how accurate the google search was but there are supposedly tools to scan the sidewalks like this

Scanning with tech that lets you see how uneven the surface is. If it's level/if wheelchairs and mobility devices can move with ease over them/trip hazards

I have done this before sometimes you need to take pictures or videos to submit it usually with a camera or their phone, plus businesses can get sued if someone is blocking the sidewalk if someone with a mobility aid cant get by. Plus if its not a loading zone it doesnt matter if they own the business. Also in my opinion people in this line of work should be vigilant and let people know if they are blocking the path for other people because its a selfish thing to do so OP is NTA

If you want to be a true ally to any community, that includes speaking up. So on that OP is correct. However, educate her and move on. Clearly she doesn’t care. Posting it online is way too extra. I would have taken a picture and filed a complaint at most if I felt it was necessary.

Most of the data that goes into map apps is physically scanned. So if he’s doing it for one of those, he would probably have an app installed on his phone that recorded the data of how wide/even/accessible the sidewalk is. That being said, he didn’t need to personally shame them. Just call the police and take a picture of the license plate. It’s a little sanctimonious to me.

As a wheelchair user, somehow otherwise able bodied pregnant people and people with strollers are the people that make my life hell most often. Like, we're in the same boat here. Hopefully only temporarily for you, but can't you see we're on the same team?? 😭

if it's not part of their job to handle citations and the like, they can probably get in trouble for confronting people. your job is X, if you decide of your own accord to act outside of the parameters of your job especially while on the clock, you risk losing that job.

As someone that has been heavily pregnant sometimes you physically can't get out regular parking spaces, but I do agree they should have had their hazards on and been really quick dropping of boxes and not taking 20 minutes. They are both the AH imo
