@kismetlei: Last week, my younger cousin, Kenya, lost her life after complications from an asthma attack. Just like that, a daughter, a cousin, a friend, and most importantly, a mother was taken from us.  Kenya loved her family. She loved her friends. She loved working with seniors, laughing, dancing, and enjoying life. But there was no love greater than the love she had for her 2-year-old daughter, Londyn. Londyn was her baby. Her heart. Her reason.  She is too young to understand why Mommy isn't coming home. Too young to understand why the arms that held her won't hold her again. One day, she will be old enough to ask questions about her mother that Kenya should have been here to answer herself.  Kenya should be watching Londyn grow. Hearing her say new words. Watching her take her first big steps, start school, lose teeth, make friends, graduate, fall in love, and become the woman she was meant to be.  She should be here for all of it. But she isn't.  And that truth hurts in a way that words can't explain.  We can't bring Kenya back. We can't give Londyn her mother back. But we can make sure that this little girl is surrounded by love, protected, cared for, and reminded every single day of how deeply her mother loved her.  Our family has started a GoFundMe to help with Londyn's care and upbringing.
