I didn’t think I needed to explain this, but after seeing hundreds of comments saying “you could already do this on old iPhones” or “apps have done this for years”… Yes, Live Photo has had a long exposure effect for years, and third-party apps have offered manual controls too. The difference is that Live Photo creates the effect by combining multiple frames after the shot. On the iPhone 18 Pro, you can now control the actual shutter speed directly in the native Camera app, while still shooting at full resolution and with ProRAW. So yes, similar effects were possible before. The point is that photographers can now do it natively, with proper manual control and without relying on Live Photo processing or a third-party app.

You can do something similar to that on an older iPhone model. Turn on Live, then on the post capture mode, select long exposure. Photo taken using iPhone 13 Pro

You can do this on any iphone or really any phone with third party apps like Lightroom, just make the shutter speed 1s or something similar like he did
