@nyanimalrescue: Hi, I’m Chomper! I'm Chomper, a 9-year-old Shepherd mix, and apparently I've reached an age where people are going to start calling me an: "OLDER GENTLEMAN." Excuse me? I would like to dispute this classification. Do older gentlemen get so excited about walks that they occasionally forget their leash manners and start pulling? I THINK NOT. I originally came from the city shelter, where I had been surrendered by my previous owner. Now I've found myself starting over at nine years old, and I'm really hoping people don't look at that number and decide my best years are behind me. Because I have an announcement: I AM NOT DONE YET. I've got walks left in me! I've got adventures left in me! I've got things to sniff! I've got people to love! I've got an entire house to fill with the particular kind of joy that only comes from having a dog waiting for you when you get home. I'm a really nice guy, although I could use a little polishing when it comes to my leash skills. Sometimes I get excited and pull. Listen. THERE WAS SOMETHING INTERESTING OVER THERE. I had to investigate. With some consistency and continued training, I'm perfectly capable of working on my manners. What I'm really worried about isn't my leash skills, though. It's my age. I know there are puppies here. I know there are young dogs here. I know nine might sound old when you're looking through adoption listings. But please don't skip over me because of a number. I don't want to spend this chapter of my life sitting in a shelter waiting for somebody who never comes. I want a home. I want a family. I want somewhere comfortable to sleep at night and somebody who's genuinely happy to see me in the morning. I'm nine. So what? My heart still works perfectly. My tail still knows how to wag. My legs still know exactly where they're going—even if they occasionally try to get there faster than the person holding my leash. And I've still got a whole lot of Chomper left to give. So don't adopt me because you feel sorry for the older dog. Adopt me because you look at me and realize: "That guy could make my life a whole lot better." Because I'm pretty darn sure I can.💖 Our address: 153 E 3rd St, 11218 Email: [email protected] Phone number: 718-436-5163 Website: nyanimalrescue.org Dog-walking and adoptions: 11am-5:30pm daily Business hours: 11am-7pm daily #seancaseyanimalrescue #nyc #dog #rescue #adoptdontshop
