Great timing. I just experienced the dry texting moment when I asked if a friend had plans for their birthday. They wrote me back a one word answer. In a previous text, I asked if we could spend some time together this month. The response was that they couldn't spend money, but we could still meet up. That was it. No commitment or intention. Thanks for the breadcrumbs, friend. I'm exhausted and don't even want to full on wish them "HBD" on Sunday.

The only people I’ve ever seen get mad about these kinds of takes is people with these habits. I’m baffled they’ve got more energy to explain themselves when it concerns them than to go have an actual conversation with someone who cares about them and wants to hear from them. It’s not about explaining anything, and it’s not your place to just assume a friend of yours doesn’t give a damn about your day. And if they truly don’t and still ask? Bring it up! Talk to them about it if it bothers you, that’s the whole point. INTENT doesn’t negate the effects your actions have on people, they can’t read your mind.
