@dr.starkid: Stars can cause planets to evaporate by energizing the gas in the planets atmosphere. This process is called photoevaporation and can lead to significant mass loss for a planet! #Science #space #stemtiktokcontest #learnontiktokcontest

"I watched a planet evaporate and wrote a paper about it" is a pretty solid flex, not gonna lie.

Hot Jupiter is a great name. If I had a drag name I might go with Hot Jupiter. Could be a good band name, like Dakotah and the Hot Jupiters.

So gas giants could have a rocky/metallic core?

Helium.... evaporate !? Isn't already in a evaporate state as a gaz ? You mean by that that it's escaping the atmosphere !?

Is it possible that Mercury could have been a gas giant at some point in the past? Just like TOI849B?

I get it but wouldn't the star tear the planet apart like moons that got shredded bc they got too close to their planet? like Saturn's Rings....I'm not being facetious....I just want to know the difference.

If the planet gets lighter wouldn't its orbit become larger over time?

Is it still evaporation if it is already in a gaseous state?

If our Star turns into a Red Giant and humanity has to relocate near Neptune and beyond, is there any way to fuel Jupiter into becoming a Star? Or would that be needed at all?Aren't Red Giants cooler than our Parent Star? I know it sounds dumb but the Kuiper Belt has a shit ton of ice-rock planets. A bunch of Dwarf Planets and all that. I'm not saying turn Jupiter into something like our Sun, but just push it into pre-Star stages. Would that be possible...not like I think we are going to last for 1.5 Billion years...just curious if its possible.
