@generalconferenceapplied: A Prophet Was in Washington D.C. Today President Oaks was invited to speak on religious freedom and the US constitution. In his Sep 16, 2026 address, "Faith, Freedom, and the Common Good," he reiterated the need to be peacemakers and many points he's shared in previous general conferences and other talks about the Lord's hand in guiding America's founding, including the creation of an imperfect constitution that was nevertheless based on divinely inspired principles. Since 2023, General Conference Applied has been dedicated to helping fellow Latter-day Saints strengthen our relationships to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, by becoming "Doers of the Word." “Speaking for my own church, the U.S. Constitution is of special importance to our members. We have a revelation that identifies the Constitution as divinely inspired. This does not mean that every word is inspired, but that it is based on inspired principles.” -President Dallin H. Oaks . This revelation can be found in Doctrine and Covenants section 101 - in particular, verse 80: “I [the Lord] established the Constitution of this land, by the hands of wise men whom I raised up unto this very purpose.” .
