As a MEDICALLY COMPLEX kid who grew up with a single mother, my father owes easily over 100k in child support and he could care less about us. I 100% agree with this.

My bio dad once called my mom saying that the child support payments for me were too much (it was like $100 bucks per month). The man has at least four other kids by at least three other women, but that hundred bucks for me was too much (daycare alone was like $1,000 per month)

🤦🏼♂️my mortgage banker mind went “of course you need receipts for child support…” I thought you meant as the recipient getting proof of receipt for the funds. Not the receipts for what the money was spent on 🤣🤦🏼♂️

Sorry but your take is grossly misangerist and wrong. I know many divorced dads who have to work 2-3 different jobs because their wages are grossly over garnished in child support payments.

What I never understood was why people say the custodial parent cant use child support for bills. Yes I know that those same bills would have to paid regardless of a child but like bills almost double with a child so how does paying bills not benefit the child? I’ve never gotten a straight answer other than the bills would still have to be paid either way. It’s ridiculous

How can you not love your child more than hating your ex? Was a single parent for almost 18 years 20 if you count now that she’s in college still helping her as much as I can did not receive a dime from the Mom. I’m sure she got her nails done her hair done and anything else she liked and I still don’t feel hate for her or am mad at her for not helping and Naveen Palo, my daughter’s life she either didn’t want to help or she had her reasons and I hope she someday comes around and becomes part of my daughter’s life because my daughter loves her

My kids’ dad paid $440/mo for our two boys from 2016 to 2025. He was entitled to 121 overnights a year but took fewer than 10 in any of those years. In the last 3 years he took fewer than 5. He made sure the boys always knew he couldn’t afford to take them to do anything fun because he “has to pay your mom so much money”. They’re 21 and 19 now. Guess which parent they couldn’t care less about seeing nowadays.

oh but there are those that need to provide receipts. I paid $250 a week for two kids and got told, buy them school clothes, pay for all extracurricular activities, they need new shoes but don't you dare go to Payless, new winter coats, and that 250 a week was 1/3 of my net pay, so please don't make it sound like we were all deadbeats.

I 100% agree!!! my children’s dad has learned that if he is on income assistance or disability, his child support will continue to accrue, but they will not garnish it… the enforcement officer told me that when he turns 65 he will age out of income assistance and go on old age security, and that they will garnish… so literally I have to wait until my kids are old enough to have kids or possibly grandkids of their own before I will start getting child support, because he doesn’t want to support his children… btw, he’s currently only 35 years old!!! the system is broken!!!

Yep. My ex said OUT LOUD that he was living with his parents, jobless, on purpose....because he didn't want to pat for anything..... I ended up with only $180/mo for 16 years 😳🤦♀️

my dad told me when I was a kid that he wanted more custody so he could pay less child support 🫠 while i also have memories of my mum giving him money when she dropped us off because he didnt have money for food. there was always beer, smokes and drugs in the house though 🤔🤔 my hot take - withholding child support or trying to track the other parents spending is financial abuse. on another note, the ghost behind you is adorable!

My ex-husband and I made our child support agreement outside of court. He sends me $150/week and the children choose when they want to go visit (I pushed him on this because I didn't want to kids to resent him for being forced to visit him). Though this agreement was made after I pointed out to him that the courts would make him pay double that amount, I didn't want to leave him destitute but wanted him to support our children.

The judge knew he was working more than he stated, its known his pay stubs were only given temporarily issued as salary to keep it low... they also gave him 2/3 of the house that belonged to the kids, bought during thr marriage for the whole family. he gave me sole custody!
