This type of non-directional movement based on day and night cycles is called nyctinastic movement. Specialized cells at the base of the leaf blade called flexor cells and extensor cells take turns shrink and swelling. These cells are located in a structures called a pulvinus, which is responsible for the movement of the leaf. ☀️ Have you seen a plant that moves based on the day/night cycles?! 🌙

Is it possible to alter the time of the cycles? I would be inclined to think so since obviously the whole world isnt on the same day/night schedule, but it would be very intriguing if not. And if not, is it accurate to say that the cycle is linked to a specific time zone(s) from the start and is then set in stone to remain in that cycle?
