@missb.ailey: If you’re getting married, then you should be able to answer the following 5 questions 🤭 how’d you do? If you don’t know the answer then here’s your chance to send this to your partner and start the convo!!! #bridetobe #marriageadvice #couplestherapist #couples #bridetok
1. Finances - who will track the bills & due dates, what counts as a big purchase that should be talked about together. 2. Parenting - how to discipline a child and what do you do if the styles are different, in terms of childcare, how involved are the inlaws/extended family. 3. In laws - boundaries around privacy for the family

a lot of people saying they discussed these early in their relationships but i think its important to remember that things, feelings, circumstances change and you (and your partner) have to be able to adapt to your new opinions. you should have these conversations regularly!!!!!

I love this!! These conversations are so important. The bed, the broom, and the budget! (Intimacy, chores/responsibilities, and money!) these are the things I always think of, you HAVE to be aligned because these are the things the most often pull people apart!

We both have ADHD. We go over these questions at least once a month to check in. Answers have changed as we’ve grown together and we’ve only gotten more secure.😗

What if you just got married and your husband involved his parents in a major discussion and then his father called you mentally ill and said to your husband to “think about your future children”? His father never apologized for what he said and my husband said that his dad “just needs more time”

Is it weird that me and my partner have these kind of conversations very regularly? For example end of every month we sit down and talk finances. He stands up for me in his house and I do same in mine when it comes to boundaries with in laws. And of note.. we are getting married soon.

I feel like the parenting questions should be asked even if neither of you wants children. How someone would hypothetically answer those questions says a lot about their character regardless of actual follow through

As a mamma who is divorced due to dv. This is very very important. 😌 Just know some of these mfs lie and don’t trust what anyone tells you, watch what they do and believe it.

me and my boyfriend have been together 5 years, we’re 20 and 22 now and we’ve had EVERY conversation. also a morbid one, how are you gonna be there for eachother when our parents die:/ grief often causes relationship problems and we’ve talked a lot about how we make sure to show up for eachother when something unfortunate happens. we also have 10 cats together and they’re all gonna die within our lifetimes.
