my dad was the same way, when I was around 9 years old I had to attack my own father from behind to stop him from abusing my mother. He threw me off of him, I ran to my room, and my mom found me 15 minutes later sitting in my closet covering my ears. We went and stayed at my grandma's house that night, and she still went back to him. They have been divorced for 7 years now, my dad has been homeless by choice since, and I am in no contact with him.

As a father and husband I can tell you that I’m on your mom’s side here. It sucks to have parents that you can’t look up to and I’m sorry that this is the case for you. I can only judge by this one video but based on this your dad sounds very insecure. Your mom said some things that weren’t great but considering what she has to put up with I get it.

I was a child who grew up in a house like this. There’s nothing anyone can say that will make it better. But the truth is at some point in your life you will be able to get away from this. And when that opportunity comes, don’t ever go back. And don’t accept this type of behaviour from someone else towards you either. All you have to do is hold on and get through this part. Remember, how other people act has nothing to do with you, it has to do with their own issues and their own shortcomings. You are and always will be enough. You are worth so much more than this, you deserve better. Don’t let anyone ever tell you different. 🫂
