@user2014291199221: A Florida plastic surgeon accused of Mrdering a lawyer has made an extraordinary decision before trial: he is representing himself. Dr. Tomasz Kosowski, 47, is charged with first-degree Mrder in the March 2023 Death of attorney Steve Cozzi, 41. Kosowski has pleaded not guilty. Just five weeks before trial, he dismissed his attorneys. Court records also show he waived his right to a jury, leaving a judge to decide the case. Cozzi disappeared from his Largo law office on March 21, 2023. His remains have never been found. Prosecutors allege he was Klled inside a shared bathroom, where investigators later found Blod and DNA evidence linked to both men. Surveillance footage shown in court allegedly captures a man matching Kosowski’s description entering the building, then leaving about two hours later while pulling what appeared to be a wagon toward a truck. Police later stopped Kosowski as he drove south toward Miami. Prosecutors say officers found a duffel bag containing items including a Taser, scissors, brass knuckles, masks, a syringe and succinylcholine—a paralytic commonly used in medicine. Investigators also allege Kosowski stopped at a dumpster after leaving the law office. That dumpster was later emptied into a landfill, where searches failed to locate Cozzi. Prosecutors are seeking the Death penalty if Kosowski is convicted. He has told the court he will not ask to be spared capital punishment.
