@rtmediahq: RT BREAKING NEWS: Aerial journalist Eliana Moreno and pilot George Marciniw have been identified as two of the three people killed when a news helicopter crashed Tuesday evening in Chatsworth, Los Angeles. Moreno and Marciniw were aboard NewsChopper4, which was providing aerial coverage for NBC4 Los Angeles and Telemundo 52. The helicopter was covering an earlier deadly collision involving a Metro bus when it crashed shortly before 7 p.m. on September 15, 2026. According to NBC Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Fire Department, the helicopter went down between two commercial buildings and caught fire. Moreno and Marciniw were killed, along with a third person who was on the ground. Authorities have not publicly identified that third victim. Moreno was a longtime aerial journalist familiar to Southern California viewers. NBC reports that she joined the helicopter team in 2010 and that she and Marciniw had logged hundreds of hours together since they began flying as a team in 2023. Marciniw was also an experienced pilot and flight instructor. NBC4 and Telemundo 52 released a statement expressing condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of those who died. The National Transportation Safety Board confirmed Wednesday that it is investigating the September 15 crash of a Eurocopter AS 350 B2 and said investigators were expected at the scene. One thing is especially important right now: The cause of the helicopter crash has NOT been determined.
