I bought Royal at launch after playing through vanilla P5 three times and during the main campaign I was enjoying the additions and QoL improvements but I wasn’t exactly feeling it was worth it for what was essentially a fourth playthrough. Climbing those stairs in Maruki’s Palace with the Phantom Thieves one last time knowing that this was truly our last fight, seeing Akechi so fiercely committed to his ideals that he was willing to sacrifice himself *again*, and knowing that this time the enemy at the top wasn’t some horrid person or callous god, just a gentle madman with genuinely good intentions of giving people their perfect reality, all as this song played… that moment alone made it all worth it.
