Aerial journalist Eliana Moreno and veteran pilot George Marciniw were aboard the helicopter and both passed away. Authorities later identified the person on the ground as 29-year-old Edy Gutierrez Mejia. Two additional people were hospitalized following the crash. Tragically, Moreno and Marciniw were working at the time. They were covering a separate fatal collision involving an SUV and a Metro bus nearby when their helicopter went down. The pair had flown together since 2023 and logged hundreds of hours covering breaking news across Southern California. Witnesses reported seeing the helicopter swaying and losing altitude before it crashed into a business parking lot. The cause has not been determined, and the NTSB has launched an investigation.
