@michaelp: NOW LIVE AND IN COLOR! The HOA I live in is ‘self-managed’. What does that mean, you might ask? That means I pay $403.42 in dues, each month, to cover water, sewer, trash, and ‘upkeep’. There are no ‘amenities’ like a pool or tennis courts or club houses etc. but we do have Flock cameras! And crumbling concrete, and dead grass, and bullet holes in siding, cracked and peeling paint, leaking roofs, random pipes coming out of the ground, warped railings or no railings on stairs and walkways, no documentation available to owners, amongst a myriad of other rights that have been violated. So is that an amenity? There are 92 units on the property, so you do the math on how much money comes in every month. So far this year, our trash service stopped for ten days. It also was stopped in 2025 and the HOA was sued by the trash company for non-payment. The property water has been shut off multiple times with either vague, or no explanations. Our parking garages flooded and two different companies were hired to clean it. 12 cars were totaled during the flood. Our HOA board has not hosted a meeting since January 2026. They have gone radio silent. So you tell me, does the property look kept up? Would you want to live here and pay hundreds of dollars each month? Cuz I don’t think so. So I decided to run for the Board. I printed a pamphlet and went knocking on my neighbor’s doors to meet them and and ask for their support at the upcoming election. I’ve already hosted two community meetings this year highlighting the issues on property, while the ‘Board’ buries thier head in the sand. The ‘President’ is a narcissist and started an AI slop smear campaign against me and decided to put signs up all over the property. Both FOR her (holding a pew pew for some reason and our condos are next to a school) and AGAINST ME! Had she actually read our bylaws, she would have known that is against the rules to post signs on the property. Her Q&A session went bust and she refused to answer, couldn’t answer, or deflected every question that was asked. No other board members were present at this meeting. THRICE, she changed the meeting location and times to confuse people. Nevertheless, we persisted. And I will continue to persist.
