My wife is an injector (gasp!) She uses neuromodulator, she is fully focused on minimally invasive cosmetics. She even uses filler on occasion (gasp again). She used to use it more, but as time went on and we realized that most of the teachings about filler were based off false assumptions, not fact, she became significantly more educated, and her use has evolved - rightfully so. She applies knowledge of the most up-to-date information about what filler can actually do, what it cannot do, and most importantly how it affects people over time. She understands it’s a semi-permanent implant. She understands it’s going to be in somebody’s face for a long, long time. She understands that the filler will also 100% change over time, and we don’t fully understand this evolution or timeline. That applied understanding is EVERYTHING. So let me say something that might surprise you coming from a surgeon: Injector is NOT a bad word. All filler is not bad. Filler is not the problem. The way people use it is the problem. The intent behind it, who it’s being used on, and the understanding (or lack of understanding) that guides it. When you use filler, you HAVE to understand 👇🏼 🔹 It’s a semi-permanent implant, not a temporary touch up 🔹 It’s going affect your patient’s face for a long, long time 🔹 It will not stay exactly where it is injected 🔹 It cannot be easily removed or dissolved if you don’t like it 🔹 It does cause inflammation, just as every other implant does When filler is properly understood, it’s a viable tool. When it’s not, that’s where the trouble begins. I’m not anti-filler - I’m pro-knowledge 🧠 This is the nuance that gets lost in the noise, and it’s also the nuance that protects your long term anatomy, identity, and expression.
