maybe you could suggest your friends all go in on like a washer or dryer so it's just the one big ticket gift shared between everyone. idk how many friends you have and what their financial situations are but that may work.

You can set up registries so that people give money towards an item. So if you put a washing machine and a fridge on there, people could choose how much money they wanted to give, and if they wanted it to go towards the fridge or the washing machine!

Last year, my wife and I asked for slightly nicer versions of cheap stuff we owned. So my pots & pans from college got replaced by nice new ones. We also put board games and stuff like that on our registry. But put the big-ticket items on! Some places let people chip in to pay part of a big item or will give you a significant discount on items not bought after your wedding date. It’s pretty handy

pandaredd reminded us fairly recently that you can put ANYTHING on a registry. he and his wife wanted nerdy stuff that are not standard registry things, so that's what they put on there

you could have a lil like money pot people can contribute to for house repairs?? like some people do a “honeymoon fund” instead of big gifts at weddings, so it can be kinda like that!! :)

If this is simply "as friends" and for tax/insurance purposes why are you having a wedding? why not just sign the papers?

We did a “honeymoon fund” and I think in lieu of that you could do a “newleywed fund!” So that way it could be a joint set of money spent on washer dryer / stuff around the house

My wedding is in 3 days, we have been together and lived together for 8 years. Didn’t do a registry, asked for people’s favorite recipes and help us with our honeymoon fund. We are going to Vegas!

my brother and his now wife put board games on their registry and left a note that the guest could choose a different game if they wanted to play it with the two of them. That could be a cheaper option

When I got married my partner and I was also well established so what we did was set up a little birdcage and said we don’t need anything but if you want you can give as cash or well wishes on cards and put into the cage it worked out well as we got enough back that our family virtual paid for the wedding

We asked people to contribute cash so we can pay off big items or for things they thought we would enjoy because it was the same for us

It’s also pretty common for guests to gift money in a card (and where I live people actually gift cute origami money, it’s fun)

My cousin and her wife had already been living together for over a year and weren’t moving when they got married so they put more fun things on their list. We got them a star projector they asked for and I am still jealous. As for practical things, visa gift cards or cash is okay to ask for so you can put it towards a big thing. For their housewarming when they did finally move they asked for specifically money to go towards buying things like a mower. If you express “hey we don’t really need many things other then some pretty big ticket things so like even just some pocket change we can put aside to save up for said items would be great 🩵” would work well with most people these days because everyone is aware how bad the economy is. For a different wedding I went to they asked for something homemade, they got mostly drawings and a few knitted things, I mailed them a handmade card (too far away to attend) with a twenty doller bill in it to buy a small treat with lol 😂 they got a cheesecake from the grocery store and send me pictures of them eating it

Omg I had no clue you were engaged, congrats!! As for wedding registry stuff, if you don’t already have one, a crock pot or an instant pot/pressure cooker? Crock pots are awesome
