@siboniso_radebe: I got awarded the tender… then I declined it. 😳 And yes, I know that sounds crazy. But the timelines were too tight, and I knew I couldn’t deliver properly within the required timeframe. Sometimes the right business decision is to walk away — even after you’ve won. Don’t let the excitement of a tender award make you ignore the numbers, timelines and your ability to deliver. A tender you can’t fulfil can become an expensive lesson. #TenderTips #TendersSA #GovernmentTenders

knowing myself, i would take that opportunity and come up with a plan to deliver. Entrepreneurs are problem solvers, we see opportunity were where it doesn't exist.

They did not want to give you the Tender bafo. This time was unreasonable. They want to give it to big boys. They want fast delivery when they pay after 2 months minimum.🙈

trust me, they were desperate. I did ot many times, especially when they had their own preferred chosen supplier and that supplier disappointed them. I would get a call at 20H00 to collect and deliver a new employees furniture, I added the costs and told them take it or leave it. they complied.

That’s good business practice . You didn’t bite more than you could chew. You’d rather decline than to deliver mediocre goods. Anyone that said “I’d take it and ask for an extension “ ukhulunyiswa indlala cause you will lose out on future supply gigs because you failed at one and chose to over promise and under deliver

last minute award as if they department didn’t know about the project ..if you as service provider feel you don’t have capacity then do not to force things … it’s your right to decline tender coz time frame was not good enough for you to execute .then to find your company to be black listed…or to have bad record …

As a consultant, it was painful when my client cancelled his awarded tender, reasons being not financially viable. I spent weeks negotiating for this tender. 😂😂😂😂

you shouldnt have declined, the General condition of contract protects you if you had initially indicated delivery timelines and their request is unreasonable, also, with a change in delivery timelines, you are supposed to review your prices. the shorter the period, the higher the price bcoz more resources and time now go into delivering and they shudve discussed with u before appointment and also, they couldve discussed with you earlier while still busy with getting the PO....a Director must write a letter saying you are appointed and they want u to start work while they prepare the PO, the PFMA allows them to do so.....this wouldve given u ample time to execute but unfortunately if its gov, they dont follow such principles
