@thezanteinsider: 🐢🌊 A very special moment at Kalamaki Beach, Zante 🇬🇷 Today I was lucky enough to witness baby loggerhead turtles hatching and making their way towards the sea! 🥹💙 Kalamaki is one of the nesting beaches of the endangered loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) in Zakynthos. Every summer, females return to these sandy beaches to lay their eggs, and weeks later, the hatchlings emerge and instinctively head towards the sea. 🌙 If you visit during nesting season: • Keep your distance from nests and hatchlings • Never touch or pick up a turtle • Avoid bright lights and flash photography • Keep beaches clean and never leave plastic behind • Follow local signs and wildlife protection rules These tiny turtles face many challenges before reaching adulthood, so giving them space can make a real difference. 🐢🌊 Nature doesn’t need us to interfere — sometimes the best thing we can do is simply watch and protect. 💚 #kalamaki #zante #carettacaretta #loggerheadturtle #marineconservation
