The reason we don’t talk about the pacific as much as we talk about band of brothers is because it makes us feel uncomfortable, which is what it is supposed to do. In band of brothers, we are the heroes undoubtably. In the pacific, it’s not that clear.

The part that gets me is when Sledge is applying for college and the clerk is asking him about skills to apply to a course and he basically says that his only skills are handling weapons and killing.

Band of brothers was like Eugene’s brother while the pacific was Eugene stories you can see at the end where the brother still talks about his time in Europe like it was a trip while Eugene doesn’t even wanna think about it or wear his uniform

I'm glad my paternal great grandfather passed before the pacific was released, my maternal great grandfather however saw both saving private ryan and BoB, never seen an 90 year old cry that hard in my life.

I wish that the the Pacific didn’t show Eugene Sledge going home at the end. He really didn’t go home up until almost a year after Japan surrendered. Once the war was “over”he was sent to northern China w 1st MARDIV

My grandpa was in the navy during ww2 he lost his friends in Pearl and served in debe deployments in the pacific. He never talked about it and I found his journal and couldn’t read it past a certain point.
