Dyson has suspended the sale of that toothbrush due to water ingress, overheating and charging faults. So not even a question, return it.

No don't return it. I put a lot of thought into gifts and it would probably offend me if it was returned.
However, asking for a meal instead is nice touch. Maybe even suggest a place to go so that they don't feel that the meal needs to match the spend on the Dyson

I would acknowledge how nice it was but emphasise that it’s just a bit too much and have them get their money back. The dinner is a nice alternative

That person love you and knows you well… also, they would not gift you something they can not afford. Maybe they got a deal or something.

Return to gifter and ask them to just take you out for lunch instead. Quality time > expensive toothbrush you don’t actually need. 🙏❤️

depends on the person.
if i was really close to them it wouldnt hurt them to be honest. but if they were a more distant friend it might hurt a bit? idk

Colgate Duraphat 5000 is the name of that toothpaste when sold in the UK btw. Exactly same product. You'll be able to pick it up for cheaper

If they know you and know your lifestyle they may have bought it specifically because they thought you’d never get it for yourself. Gifts are a way you get to have those occasional things you otherwise wouldn’t. Keep it and enjoy it.

If you really want it and use it, I would keep it. They show lots of love in giving you such a gift and sometimes we just need to be grateful of the people we have around us and just say thank you! But if you are not really going to make the most of it, then return it because for them that is an expensive gift. 😉🎁

imo sell and use atleast part of that money on a gift for them in the future, you dont risk hurting their feelings and you both get something out of it, win win

I don't even understand why someone would gift it unless you've expressed interest in it. It's so expensive and niche.

I think if you gently say, you would appreciate spending time with them more than the toothpaste. I would also point out that you have a very good toothbrush, so time with them would be a more amazing gift.

Depends on whether you think you’ll genuinely use it and whether it’s more beneficial to you than the routine you already have.

Could we get a video on your oral health products? I’m always put off at the cost of things, but as a frugal spender it’d be interesting to see your thoughts 😁
