This morning, residents of Pasadena, Altadena, the Pacific Palisades and other parts of northern Los Angeles are waking up to devastation. Many of their precious homes and businesses are gone. A fast-moving fire broke out yesterday morning in Pacific Palisades and grew to nearly 3,000 acres last night. Thousands were forced to evacuate. Some residents even had to abandon their cars on the side of the road so they could escape the flames, the Los Angeles Times reports. Then overnight, the fires exploded. Evacuees were stuck in traffic. Fire officials had to use a bulldozer to move vehicles that had piled up. Flames jumped over the famous Pacific Coast Highway. Entire neighborhoods burned away. At one senior living center, workers were racing to evacuate elderly residents with flames rising only a block away. Right now, the Palisades fire is said to be burning through areas the size of five football fields every minute as “tornado-like winds” have made extinguishing the flames all but impossible. For the residents of Los Angeles, I’m sure the past 24 hours have felt apocalyptic—like events straight out of the Tribulation—and sudden, like a “thief in the night.” I hope you will join me in praying for them. This is a moment to pray for those impacted by the wildfires who have lost everything, but this is also a time to be vigilant as intercessors for those who do not yet know Jesus. In a world plagued by disaster and catastrophe, Jesus is the hope people need. I believe Jesus has not returned yet because God wants as many people to be saved as possible. He is waiting, and you can shine His light in a dark time. As always, please join me in continuing to pray for the people living in Los Angeles, for the firefighters and first responders protecting them, and to the government leaders in positions of authority. May they know God’s peace and guidance in a moment of terror and helplessness. #california #news #pray #wildfires #prayforcalifornia
