@jon_skelton_pearson: #psychotherapy #psychotherapist #innercritic #mindsetshift #healing Your inner critic may come across as a sort of parent existing in your head like a sentient human but in truth it’s just a piece of rotten malware stuck on loop. So don’t think you can change its mind; instead seek to employ methods by which you reclaim the power you give to that critic; anger work (sometimes), two chair work, anything that emphasises the centrality of you, the alliance of powerful adult and child innocence. There’s more and that’s for the next video….
I struggle with it myself and it disturbs every action I accomplish. Was it good enough? Did I park the car straight? Was I rude? If I make a mistake, surely I should get punished…

My dad (convicted when I was 15 for crimes against me) was very cruel. Called me fat, ugly no one will ever love me. Well. Now I’m trying to undo all this thinking. It’s so unfair how this gets installed. Very cruel. Thankfully my nan gave me love else I wouldn’t have known what it looks like 🤔

Listened to the entire thing while maintaining focus. Thank you for providing those useful information and having broke down the mechanics behind this. Really interesting

Beautifully expressed - waking up to the inner critic as a fixed recording instead of temporarily diverting its energy into one’s own executive.
