Hind bint Utbah R.A., the wife of Abu Sufyan R.A., told the Prophet ﷺ that her husband was stingy and did not provide enough for her and her children. She asked whether she could take from his wealth without his knowledge. The Prophet ﷺ replied: "Take what is sufficient for you and your children, in a just and reasonable manner." Sahih al Bukhari 5364 Sahih Muslim 1714a This ruling applies where the husband is withholding maintenance that is already his obligation. She may take only: What is reasonably necessary For herself and her children. According to normal living standards. Without extravagance or revenge.
