tbf I'm pretty sure cultivators don't necessarily NEED lots of food (if they rely on their golden cores etc) they can enter a state of inedia i think its like 3 days fasting or something, but since WW lost his he must've not realised quite how much MORE food he'd require to keep up and im sure his body noticed the change and began lossing weight rapidly, especially as somone who enjoyes tasty meals, I'm sure he undstood the lack of nutrition was harming him but under the circumstances he'd rather the elderly and young folk in his care had more than him, he was incredibly kind to them even if it meant giving up on his own health
