I worked from the age of 16 until 58, retired from a general manager of a supermarket with a 800k pension pot .i worked 70-80 a week 6days a week,late nights ,I day off at Christmas. I now have a pension including my state pension of 45k a year for all my hard work . Nobody worried about me in the 42 years I was never at home , I am enjoying life now !

Perhaps it’s because when you eventually retire it gets taxed, taxed and taxed again. Then you reach state pension age and that’s taxed because it’s the only so-called benefit that is classed as income.

why save for pensions when they the government tax you too the hilt state pensions are taxable so any private pensions you have they snatch back saying over the freshold so the question is is this a benifit or a wage?

Have these people got any idea how a working class person, on the wage system we have in this fractured nation, can adequately save for their retirement, after paying for their housing and food, there’s nothing left to put aside, and the push by employers for zero hour contracts, and self employment in a business, we have the most unequal pay structure in Europe and until we change that we will continue to inadequately pay our workers
