@wiredmyway: It’s funny… until you really think about it. I pretended to faint to see what he would do. He tried to wake me, said “wake up everyone”, grabbed his tablet, then eventually carried on with his day while I was still lying there. And that’s one of the scarier realities for us. If something genuinely happened to me while we were alone, would he understand something was wrong? Would he know how to get help? Right now, I genuinely don’t know. It’s not that he doesn’t care, he just understands situations differently. 💙 Sometimes autism is funny and beautiful, but sometimes it makes you think about things other families may never have to. #AutismAwareness #AutismParenting #RaisingAnAutisticChild #AutismAcceptance
Both me and my brother are autistic my mum did this a couple times my brother would cover his ears and panic, I would laugh and tell her to stop pretending. Goes to show how wide the spectrum is

He's not non verbal. He's talking and saying wake up. From a Mum of a 18 year old that can't even babble, please use the correct label.

They simply don’t understand the signs of danger. It is very worrying. Mine starts laughing if I cut myself
