@growwithpolina: Nobody preps you for your first meeting with a C-level. You just kind of... show up. Ramble through updates. Hope it lands. Here's the thing: execs don't want the play-by-play. They want signal. Direct, measurable, no fluff. If you're spending ten minutes explaining context before you get to the point, you've already lost them 😬 So when I'm coaching someone on managing up, I hand them my WRAP framework. It's how you walk into any C-level update and sound like someone who should be in that room (even if you're nervous walking in). W → Wins. Lead with the measurable outcomes you've actually delivered. Numbers, results, movement. Not "I've been working on..." - what actually happened. R → Roadblocks. Not the ones you're still stuck on. The ones you already overcame. This is where you show judgment, not just effort. A → Asks. What do you need from them? Be specific. A decision, a resource, an intro. Execs would rather hear a clear ask than sit through a vague "just wanted to keep you in the loop." P → Plan. Your plan going forward, plus your top three priorities for the week ahead. This is what tells them you're already three steps ahead of the question they were about to ask. That's the whole structure. Wins, Roadblocks, Asks, Plan. In that order, every time.
