@chef.ched: Stephen Colbert returned to late-night television with something noticeably missing — his beard. The 62-year-old comedian appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Tuesday, one night after winning his 12th Emmy, and finally fulfilled a promise he had made to his wife, Evelyn “Evie” McGee. Colbert had vowed to shave his gray beard if he won. With Jimmy Kimmel encouraging him — and even providing a razor with Colbert’s name on it — he did exactly that on camera. “I was so excited to win because Evie h*tes my beard so much,” Colbert joked, adding that the number of kisses he received had “gone way down.” Kimmel teased that Evie might finally be willing to kiss him again after the transformation. But the lighthearted moment came after a major career ending. Colbert won Outstanding Variety Series for the final season of “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” which ended in May after 11 seasons. CBS previously said canceling the show was “purely a financial decision” and was unrelated to its performance or content. The cancellation had attracted attention after Colbert publicly criticized Paramount’s $16 million settlement with D. Trump over a lawsuit involving a “60 Minutes” interview with Kamala Harris. Despite strong ratings and an Emmy-winning final season, there is currently no indication that Colbert’s show will return. His late-night desk may be gone, but one Emmy promise definitely survived. Would you keep the beard or stay clean-shaven? #StephenColbert #JimmyKimmel #Emmys2026 #LateNightTV #celebritynews
