But the lighthearted moment came after a major career ending. Colbert won Outstanding Variety Series for the final season of “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” which ended in May after 11 seasons. CBS previously said canceling the show was “purely a financial decision” and was unrelated to its performance or content. The cancellation had attracted attention after Colbert publicly criticized Paramount’s $16 million settlement with D. Trump over a lawsuit involving a “60 Minutes” interview with Kamala Harris.
