9 ⠌⣢| With this, 9 years of dailies is done. This post marks the end of my daily practice making a piece everyday since January 1st 2017. I’ve made 3,287 pieces using webgl and mostly shaders. I decided to stop my daily practice because I feel like I’m stuck in a rut with only enough time and energy to make only minor improvements or experiments everyday. I recently haven’t had time to invest more in trying new techniques or ideas and found myself defaulting to doing what’s easy. So I’ve decided to stop at 9 years and take a break. After the break I hope to come back with a fresh mind and enthusiasm to tackle making pieces that try something new, develop a new technique and that have more depth. All of which will take more time than I can spend in a day. I very thankful for these 9 years and how much I have been stretched and learned about myself. I’ve learned how to push through my perfectionist reservations and committed to just making something. I’ve learned how things you think are great ideas in your head sometimes don’t work out the way you thought but lead you in a new and often better direction. Thank you to my friends, family and followers. You all have supported me on this ambitious practice and given me the motivation when I thought I had nothing to make. I hope you all had a great 2025 and have a fantastic 2026. Random fact if you didn’t know. Each piece has a number assigned to it using braille characters to encode the number in binary. The ordering of the dots are based on the ISO ordering. This final daily’s braille number ( ⠌⣢) actually encodes 3298 which is 11 greater than the number should be. I wrote a lot of automation for helping streamline my daily process and the one for generating this encoding had a bug that caused the number to increment by more than 1 per post. I caught it after a few days and decided to continue with the current number instead of retroactively fixing it. So it serves as unique identifier rather than a count.
