@mothershipsg: The North-South Corridor (NSC), the upcoming highway linking the northern region of Singapore to the city centre, will open in stages from 2029 instead of 2027. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) said on Sep. 17 that "significant construction challenges" were encountered in Gambas, Woodlands, Novena, and Thomson. As a result, more time is needed to safely complete the remaining works. The NSC viaduct from Admiralty Road West to Lentor Avenue will open in phases from 2029, instead of 2027. The tunnel section from Lentor Avenue to East Coast Parkway (ECP) will open in phases from 2031, instead of 2029. However, LTA also said that travel conditions along the corridor will improve progressively as major structural works are completed. The public can expect less surface-level construction and disruptions on roads come 2027 as more construction activities move underground. From 2028, roads, footpaths and other adjacent areas occupied by construction will be progressively reinstated for public use. The challenging ground conditions encountered include the discovery of fractured rock and groundwater inflows when the team was excavating under the North-South Line tunnel.
