![When I had moved to France, I was in love and in a relationship that didn’t work. Hence, I struggled. I was desperate for a home, a better job, attention. I cried on the phone. “Maybe you should consider coming back home”, was an answer. I cried more, from anger this time and tried to hang up. I wanted to stay, I wanted this so badly. Once we broke up, a little over a year later, I cried less on the phone. “Well then — now you can come home”, was a suggestion. I denied. I had just signed a permanent contract, and even though I was almost at my wits’ end trying to find an apartment, I figured it would work out somehow. And it did. For 2 1/2 years. Then we got notice for the apartment. [...] For now, I can’t really put words on my desperation. Paris had taken every bit of energy. It had made me lose faith in humanity. It has asked too much too many times. For the first time though, moving back to my parents (mom and stepdad in case you were wondering) didn’t seem like an outrageous idea.
