@pinknews: India has its first transgender rescue team. The all-trans women disaster management and rescue team, based in Kolhapur, was created through the Aapda Sakhi programme, which has trained hundreds of women to respond to emergencies. The first group of trans women began training earlier this year, learning rescue swimming, boat handling, lifesaving techniques, first aid and CPR. For the volunteers, it’s about more than learning lifesaving skills.
