It’s called gross pay for a reason, amirite?!🤮 I kid, I kid. BUT—Do you know where your paycheck is going? A lot of us don’t realize that our actual biggest expense each month is our taxes! We don’t normally look at our paycheck in detail - or maybe some of it doesn’t make sense to us - so we just know what we’re left with. Now this is ONE example and yours could look different. This specific person had a good chunk going into her 401(k), which is excellent, as well as some money going into her HSA. In addition, she works for a company who does not cover 100% of her healthcare so she pays into that as well. She is ending up with about 55% of her total paycheck. All of this is to say, that’s probably why despite $100,000 being a great salary, it doesn’t FEEL like she is exactly swimming in extra money each month. This is also why it’s really important that we 1) budget our money so those funds that we do get are spent on things that matter to us 2) Invest. We want our money to be working FOR us! Even though with a Roth account, you’re not getting a tax break today, I still love it because then you don’t have to pay taxes on any of the money that grows later! And you can see just how big of a deal that can be! COMMENT BELOW: Have you ever looked at your paycheck in detail? Do you know where your money is going every two weeks? Did you even realize that taxes were one of your biggest expenses?! 👉🏽And remember sharing is caring because we want rich friends too! Share with a friend and follow @shewolfeofwallstreet for all the financial literacy tips and tricks and money motivation! *illustrative & educational purposes only — not intended as advice🤓 #PersonalFinance #howtaxeswork #paycheckbreakdown #moneyeducation
