@kellymedinaenos: Allow me to talk to you about brain activity and trauma under a scan… 🤯*disclaimer I am not medically trained so I may not have the EXACT terms correct, please do your own research if you’re wanting to learn more. 🤍🧠
ALSO! I HIGHLY recommend the My Brain Books - they teach children (and adults as a bi-product) all about the brain in a beautiful way. There’s also a set for neurodivergent children. 4 in a set -mindfulness, “my breath”, My Brain Is My Home (encompassing amygdala, hippocampus and pre frontal cortex (Mr and Mrs Wise), and Brain First Aid!

He has a book called the body keeps score and I would recommend reading it. As an adult with childhood trauma, reading Bessels book was such an eye opener! Don’t get me wrong, some of the book is hard and could potentially trigger some people but it’s so interesting 🥰

So I’m not a psychologist YET 😆 but you’re on the right lines, it does depend on the type of trauma for things like this to show the same kind of response and there’s a complicated system the brain follows (beyond what’s showing here) to know if the threat is worth doing anything about. You’re right and could show in certain ways in which people parent. I do wonder if there is any studies on it so you’ve gave me something to look at ☺️there is however studies done on children similar to this, they are interesting to read and understand what trauma does to a child’s development.

The whole brain child by Daniel Siegel explains it perfectly - free audio book on Spotify. I have used his tips with all my children and has helped in so many situations

This is why I always say Gentle / Respectful parenting is based on brain science. As a Community Nursery Nurse, in Health Visiting, I try to explain some of this to people to help them have realistic expectations of their children!
