@newyorker: We’re pleased to exclusively announce the longlist for the 2026 National Book Award for Fiction. The works on this year’s list include début novels, short-story collections, and three books that were featured on The New Yorker’s list of the best books of 2026 so far. Five of the stories in Louise Erdrich’s collection “Python’s Kiss” were originally published in The New Yorker, making Erdrich one of three authors on this year’s longlist who have contributed fiction to the magazine.
