i blame genshin for cosplay overconsumption 🙏😭and the rat race in this community, and a lot of cosplay waste, characters keep comming non stop and sometimes it feels like dokidoki is barely keeping up, ppl also try to keep up with the newst characters debuts so they order cheaper more and create more waste cus there is no way that even 80% of these lowest quality costumes are actually reused or resold

To me genshin improved the scene by a lot. We are a lot more open minded, especially with newcomers and bought cosplay. Contests are less important than in the late 2010s. And with the modern fandoms you have so much variety that there is something for everybody. Just look at how little variety attack on titan as the major convention cosplay had. Naruto? sword art online? My hero academia? Bleach? Speaking of over 15 years of con experience

Also I feel like people almost stopped cosplaying from other fandoms. Recently I was at a western comic book convention. I was expecting marvel, dc, maybe some star wars. It was all genshin 😭

as a genshin cosplayer, i agree a lot. All of the sudden, everyone has moved on to zenless, and honkai, it feels like a competition most of the time 😭 definitely not helping with the algorithm change on tiktok as well

I feel like I'm in enemy territory but as someone who loved cosplay since I was a little kid...genshin CHANGED cosplay forever and I'm sad to say I doubt it will ever go back to how it was...200 euro costumes and 50 euro shipping...

Genshin Impact has also changed not only the cosplay scene, but also the festivals themselves. I've been doing cosplay since 2017, and all the festivals were really dedicated to Geek culture, but after that... Only the genshin impact. Products from sellers, cosplayers, even interactive zones and star guests too. Genius changed everything and I hate it, I came to a festival dedicated to geek culture, not Genshin

since genshin exploded in popularity these companies also stopped making anything else but hoyoverse. it’s so difficult to find costumes for other fandoms - all hoyoverse or league.

did you miss all the massive gacha cosplays over the past 10 years? yes genshitification got worse but things like azur lane and fate have been around since forever, hell even arknights has had some crazy designs ages ago 🤷♀️
